I'm a professor of Islamic history, specialising in the history of social groups and relationships of power in late medieval Egypt and Syria (the Mamluk sultanate); prosopography via relational databases have always been a key tool for my research, and I'm currently supervising a European research project that includes the development and use of a prosopo- and sociographical database: MP3.
